Safety

Area Erectors strives to lead the industry in safety.  It has long been Area's policy to make sure that all its employees follow strict safety procedures and utilize protective equipment whenever necessary.

For starters, Area requires all of its foreman and regular employees to be certified in first-aid, CPR/AED and to be up to date in the 10-hour OSHA training.  While the employees that Area may get out of a union hall are not all currently required to be certified as extensively, Area has been working with the Union to have certification be a very favorable option for those working out of the hall.  These steps have paved the way for most Union Locals to implement policies that require all current and upcoming apprentices to be trained and current in these skills before working out of the hall.

Area employs five safety personnel to specifically take care of inspecting jobsites, maintain safety equipment, certify its employees, supply personal protective equipment, and fulfill all OSHA requirements for paperwork and equipment standards.  The majority of Area's safety personnel are certified Outreach Instructors for 10-hour OSHA classes.

Jobsites are visited randomly to ensure that all equipment is to standard and that the equipment is being utilized in the correct manner.  These jobsite visits occur about every other week if not more frequently.

Safety is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, but something to be achieved.
