Safety CultureThis page is under construction. Certifications 6-Foot Fall Rule Employee Content Engineering Implementation OSHA Area Erectors strives to lead the industry in safety. Area employs a staff of safety personnel to specifically inspect jobsites, distribute and maintain safety equipment, train employees, and to promote Areas safety culture on all projects. Area utilizes a Risk Management Council made up of the owner, safety department, field superintendents, project managers, insurance representatives and legal department to create, monitor trends, implement and change policies. The Risk Management Council meets every month. Here are some examples of what you can expect on Area projects :v 100% fall protection at heights of six feet or more v Pre-employment, random and post-accident drug screening through IMPACT v Pre-hire safety orientation handbook for all field employees v Project specific safety and erection plan and orientation at the start of each job v Total compliance with all federal, owner or controlling contractor jobsite rules v Complete hoisting analysis and evaluation v Compliance with AISC safety requirements as an Advanced Certified Steel Erector Area also has an in-depth training program for all employees. v Weekly Toolbox Talks that are created by Areas management and field personnel to provide information specific to Areas scope of work v Monthly Safety Bulletins are sent out to keep field employees abreast of policy changes and topics discussed at the Risk Management Meetings v OSHA 10 & 30 Hour v First Aid & CPR/AED Training are offered to all employees v All operators are renewing certifications through their local and the OECP v Aerial & Scissor Lift v Rough terrain forktruck training v Industrial hardtire (Class C) forklift training v Subpart R v Fall Protection training v Flagger training v City of Chicago scaffold training Jobsites are visited randomly to ensure that all equipment is being utilized and policies and procedures are being followed in the correct manner. Jobsite visits occur about every week if not more frequently. While Area uses engineered fall protection components from well known manufacturers, Area has also tested new fall protection systems. With the input of field employees, ideas have been designed, engineered, tested and put into use on our projects. Area works very closely with fall protections manufacturers and has been an integral part of development of new products to meet the needs of our workforce.
